Cairns skip bins, run by locals.

In 2019, Jared Lacco took over Tropical Skips Cairns with a simple goal: give locals a skip bin hire service that actually does what it says.

Jared had spent more than 15 years in the building industry with Fletcher Insulation and James Hardie, becoming the youngest branch manager in Fletcher’s history at just 26. He knew the skip bin industry could do better for Cairns, so he set about building something the community could rely on.

It started with 2 trucks and 115 bins. Today it is the largest skip bin operation in Cairns: 800 bins and 10 trucks covering every suburb from Palm Cove to Gordonvale.

The size has not changed how we operate. Bre still answers the phone by name, and our drivers still place bins with a smile, even up the steep ones.

Tropical Skips Cairns are passionate about the environment and recycling waste material wherever we can. The metals, concrete and green waste that goes into our skip bins can be completely recycled when kept separate from general household waste.

• ✓Green waste is shredded and turned into mulch and compost.
• ✓Concrete and masonry are crushed and screened into drainage gravel and road base.
• ✓Metals go to a scrap metal recycling plant, reducing the need to mine for new metals.
