Skip bin pricing in Cairns comes down to four things: what you’re throwing, what size you need, how heavy it is, and how long you keep it. Here’s how each one works.
What drives the price.
The size of the bin
Bins run from 2m³ up to 15m³. One cubic metre is roughly a 6×4 trailer load, so sizing it right the first time avoids paying for a second delivery.
How much it weighs
Every bin includes a weight allowance that varies by size and waste type. Go over it and excess weight is charged per tonne.
How long you keep it
Standard hire is up to 7 days. We are flexible on extra days if you need them, in most cases at a small additional cost.
The cheapest way to book
Separate your waste, pay less.
It is often more cost effective to separate your waste into two bins than to put everything into one. Mixed grades of waste have to be processed at the more expensive rate, so a small green waste bin plus a small building waste bin will usually come in under one large mixed bin.
Concrete and clean fill are the same story. Kept clean and separate they are recycled into road base and drainage gravel, which is why they are priced differently to general rubbish.

How waste is graded
The three main grades.
Each grade has its own density guide. Denser material hits the weight allowance sooner, which is why grading matters to your price.
Building waste
Construction and demolition materials from building sites: bricks, concrete, timber, roofing materials, plasterboard, metal and packaging waste.

General waste
Lightweight building materials and packaging, or a combination of household items and some building materials.

Household waste
Everyday items from residential properties: packaging, furniture, white goods and appliances, toys, linen and green waste.

Prices are based on diesel under $2.00 per litre. We reserve the right to introduce a reasonable fuel surcharge when diesel rises above $2 per litre. Each 20c above that threshold equates to a 1% fuel surcharge.
Pricing questions.
The cost varies depending on what sort of material you are putting in the bin and what size you need. Due to additional waste levies, the cost of dumping material has gone up and general skip bin hire prices in Cairns have increased. The fastest way to get an accurate figure is to request a quote or call the team and tell us what you are throwing.
