Yes, most of our bins are able to be opened on the short end to make it easy to walk large items into the bin, such as couches or other large furniture, or push a wheelbarrow in and tip it out. This removes the need to lift large or heavy items over the sides of a high bin. Once your larger items are in the bin, you can then close the door and continue filling up with smaller items that can be lifted over the sides.

Our smallest and cheapest skip bins are 2 cubic metres and can be used for concrete, soil, green waste, building and domestic rubbish. They are great for small clean up jobs where space is limited.

Bins may be filled to the top rail and no higher. As it is illegal to transport overloaded bins, the Tropical Skips drivers cannot accept skips if the waste inside exceeds the bin capacity or is higher than the top rail.

We accept most kinds of waste in our Cairns skip bins, graded into several waste types: green waste (weeds, trees, leaves, fronds, mulch, but not building timber), concrete (plain and reinforced concrete, masonry including pavers, bricks and besser blocks, rocks, but no ceramic tiles), light general rubbish (household furniture, appliances, mattresses), heavy waste and building site rubbish (timber, metals, tiles, masonry, plasterboard) and clean fill (soil containing no organic matter or large rocks). It can be more cost effective to separate your waste into two bins rather than putting it all into one, as mixed grades of waste must be processed at the more expensive rate. We do not accept gas bottles, asbestos, car tyres, batteries, food scraps, liquids, paint, oil or thinners, or any other hazardous materials.

Our skip bins come in a range of different shapes and sizes from 2 cubic metres to 15 cubic metres. The 8m³, 9m³ and 15m³ bins are limited supply and available for 1 to 7 day hire only.
