We accept most kinds of waste in our Cairns skip bins, but they are graded into different waste types, and that grading is what determines the price.
The waste types we take
Green waste is weeds, trees, leaves, fronds and mulch. Not building timber.
Concrete covers plain and reinforced concrete, masonry including pavers, bricks and besser blocks, and rock. No ceramic tiles.
Light general rubbish is household furniture, appliances, mattresses and everyday clutter.
Heavy waste and building site rubbish covers timber, metals, tiles, masonry and plasterboard.
Clean fill is soil containing no organic matter or large rocks.
What we cannot take, ever
Gas bottles, asbestos, car tyres, batteries, food scraps, liquids, paint, oil or thinners, and any other hazardous material.
Sorting saves money
It is often more cost effective to separate your waste into two bins than to put everything into one, because mixed grades of waste are processed at the more expensive rate.
Fill to the rail, not above it
Bins may be filled to the top rail and no higher. It is illegal to transport an overloaded bin.
