Choosing a skip bin size is the question we get asked most, and getting it right the first time is the single easiest way to keep the cost down. A second delivery always costs more than sizing up at the start.
Start with the trailer rule
The quickest way to picture a cubic metre is this: one cubic metre is roughly one 6×4 trailer load. So a 2m³ bin is about two trailer loads, and a 9m³ is about nine.
The sizes
2m³ (1.9m × 1.6m × 0.9m) suits soil, rubble, rock and concrete, or a small household clean-up where space is tight.
3m³ (2.4m × 1.6m × 0.9m) handles a small bathroom renovation or a clean-up around the house and garden.
4m³ (3.0m × 1.6m × 0.9m) is the workhorse for larger bathroom and kitchen renovations.
6m³ (3.7m × 1.6m × 1.25m) steps up to work-site clean-ups and cyclone preparation.
9m³ (4.2m × 1.8m × 1.5m) is the big one, for very large clean-outs and ongoing site work.

Most of our bins are walk-in
Most of our bins open on the short end, so you can walk large items like couches and whitegoods straight in, or push a wheelbarrow in and tip it out.
Two things that catch people out
First, weight allowances vary by size and waste type. A 4m³ bin allows 1 tonne of building waste but 600 kg of household waste. Second, bins fill to the top rail and no higher.
